Laughing out loud, I watched as my editor-in-chief was thrusted forward towards the champion of the 17th Chemistry Challenge held at the De La Salle University grounds. I turn around to watch all my schoolmates around me gleefully smiling at the utterly embarrassed girl in front of us. With her head hanging low and cheeks turning a rosy shade of pink. I chuckled softly before raising the phone in my hands, the camera application open, and directed the focus on the three people in front of me.
After hearing the multiple snaps, indicating the numerous pictures I had just taken, I lowered my hands with a satisfied hum. What a fine day to have, ignoring the fact that I had to get up early on a Saturday. I remember dreading to be here, a few hours earlier and yet there I am now, having a blast. Laughing with people and laughing at people.

It is a pity our school was not able to make it to the top 11, but the seniors apparently had fun. Gauging from there comfortable smiles and the boisterous mirth that was escaping their lips, I could assume that.

It is funny how sometimes, the days you dread the most at the start end up being one of the best days you have in a while. How such dread could end up as joy that exhaust you by the end of the day.
The girl in front of me is flushed. She and the winner exchanged awkward glances towards each other. My editor-in-chief could not have been more embarrassed when the photographer of La Salle took pictures of them accompanying the host teasing the two.
After many pictures where taken, the girl immediately took off and left, hiding her face from embarrassment. Her face could not be painted from the humiliation.

With a low chuckle I heard her friend say, Okay lang 'yan 'di na kayo magkikita. The girl only shrieked and continued flushing from what happened.

It is the time of the year again, the day after February 13 is coming close. It is the most dreaded day of the year for single people. But luckily, the Single’s Awareness Day is here to ease your bitterness over those lovey-dovey couples everywhere. The Single’s Awareness Day is the S.A.D. alternative to Valentine’s Day.

The maingoal of this day is to let single people celebrate, have get-togethers, and generally have a good time with their single friends.

1. Wear something green. Green is the complementary color to pink and red (the color of Valentine’s Day), so some people consider it the holiday color of Single’s Awareness Day.
The day of hearts has finally arrived! Valentine's day! The day where you feel so much love as you see all the couples scattered everywhere, those heart-shaped balloons with heart-shaped chocolates and those red heart-shaped streamers hanging around the rooms. Seeing such beautiful things would make you think that it's such a wonderful day!
For me, February 14th is just a normal day or worse. I believe that it's the day when humans blindly waste their time, effort, money and energy on things that won't matter in the end. You think it's lovely? Sweet? I suggest we face reality.

Think about it. Your heart beats 115, 200 times or more every single day and it doesn't even stop just so that you can live. Internal organs don't just move once you see someone cute or someone your type and it's already called love. Stop fantasizing about things that aren't even reasonable. Lust is driven by testosterone and estrogen as adrenaline, dopamine, serotoning, oxytocin and vasopressin follows. You thought that it's something magical that rarely happens but it's just science.
There are more sayings. I can't possibly live a life without you beside me. Really? Let's figure this out. You were born without him/her. You're still living and breathing without this person. If he/she is selfish of his/her love, then let it be! You're not created to beg for someone else's attention, commitment and affection. You will get what you deserve because whatever it is that you are waiting for is worth it. Say things like I can't live without food/water/oxygen/the love of God to be rational.
As everyone can see, I'm a bitter person. Yet I believe that I'm just not an imbicile for things that aren't true or real. Obviously, I don't have a love life. But that doesn't mean I'm melancholic or joyless. I even believe that I'm way more happier than those who are in a relationship. Because I am free. Free from all the problems and burdens because I live only for myself and my happiness does not depend on others.

Another thing, yes, I still appreciate others' appearances, talents and personalities. In short, I still have crushes. In my opinion though, I just really picture 13 year olds being heartbroken. It's absurd. Just because you became sweet with someone for two weeks and it ended doesn't mean that it's love. Maturity comes at the age of 18, 21 for others even.
I still believe in true love, as everyone does, but the true love that I know is the one that waits. The one that treasures. That deciphers. You don't just talk for a while on Messenger and say I love you on the next day. It's crazy and immature. Those three words are only to be spoken when true. Not when you need extra cash. As I was saying, true love takes time and it is the acception of each other's imperfections. Let’s not get carried away by the things that are just pointless.
To blush and feel those butterflies in your stomach are normal and a part of your highschool life. I'm just stating that we should enjoy our teenage years or adolesence instead of stressing about people who don't even care about us.

Greetings to all the singles out there! Let’s celebrate ourselves because we don't have additional troubles to have! We may not have a love life, but we have a life to love with God. Also for all those sweet people with couples there, don't hate me. I'm just standing for the bitter people in this world.
Now, I recommend you to spend your Valentine's Day with people who really love you. Your parents, siblings, friends who probably won't stab you in the back, your dog, books, beloved electronics or whatever rather than having your 24 hours wasted on someone who would never spend little of their time for you even if you've always stayed by their side.
